So tired so sleepy

1st of all i just want to say sleep is so important!!

After a crap sleep consisting of only 3-4 hours my day dragged out until it was time for squash. Today was Havelock vs Napier for some trophy thingy, a contest they do every year. After a bit of rushing i arrive to the courts late and have to quickly get changed for my game. I am playing a young junior who probably only has one strength over me which would be fitness at this stage. I dont get long to warm up and lose the 1st set which i dont really care about. 2nd set is a battle and goes to me. I take the 3rd set but am struggling to keep my breath, im stuffed! A few bad calls have caused a bit of frustration but nothing to upset my game. I argued a bit with the honesty of my opponents shots as it looks like the ball is double bouncing. The ref has no sympathy for me. I am an honest player but if someone isnt going to be honest then i can play dirty. I go down in the 4th set but use it as a rest game. Yellow powerade is my choice of refreshment today and it does the trick but cannot cure my sore legs haha. Im physically drained but know i cannot lose this game (which i didnt think was going to be for points in the end) to a dude ranked in the same grade as me but waaaaay lower. Hes playing well i can give him that but im not playing as good as i feel i can. Here we go another 5th setter yippee. I have probably won a majority of 5 setter games in my squash career which is a good stat to have because it shows i have a lot of determination, high level of fitness and that i dont give up. 1st point goes to me thats always a good start on the mental side of things. i keep the lead throughout the whole set and i get 5 points away from winning, im exhausted and dripping with sweat. 3 points away and my opponent makes a late comeback. In my head i tell myself 2 points to go now. I put pressure on my opponent by vollying more and hitting the ball harder and lower while holding my shots. It works and i take the game. Such a relief because i did not want to lose this game. 5 points for winning what a lot of energy used for that haha better than losing 30 though. Our havelock team ends up winning and we get some trophy. meh.

A good weekend of squash and an eye opener for what i need to work on. Fitness! and solo practice to get my eye in. Sleep will be vital for my upcoming tournies which i am going to give it my all.

Chur bout it!
